FaithVault Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 2026
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect:
- Account information: Username, email address, first name, last name, and password (encrypted). If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple-provided user identifier, email address (which may be a private relay address), and name as authorized by you.
- G.R.O.W. entries: Text content you write using the G.R.O.W. framework, including gratitude notes, scripture reflections, obedience actions, and worship responses
- Photos: Images you choose to attach to daily deposits or your profile
- Voice recordings: Audio you record for voice-to-text transcription. Audio is sent to our server for processing and is not permanently stored after transcription is complete.
- Location data: Only when you choose to create faith pins on the map. Location coordinates are collected solely for the purpose of placing your pin and are never collected in the background or automatically.
- Device information: Push notification tokens for sending reminders you opt into
- Usage data: Entry completion counts, milestone achievements (7-entry and 14-entry milestones), install date, last active dates, and subscription status for analytics and service improvement
2. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used to:
- Provide the daily deposit and faith tracking features you use
- Save and sync your G.R.O.W. entries across sessions
- Send notification reminders you have enabled
- Enable connections and messaging with other users you choose to connect with
- Display your faith pins on the map
- Track your progress through scripture reading plans and milestone achievements
- Manage your subscription status and access to premium features (FaithAccount unlocks after 7 completed entries; FaithShare unlocks after 14 completed entries; a subscription is required from Day 7 of your first install to maintain access to these features)
- Improve our service through aggregated usage analytics
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt encryption. Session tokens are hashed before storage. We implement rate limiting and input sanitization to protect against abuse.
If you sign in with Apple, your Apple identity token is cryptographically verified against Apple's public keys before your account is created or accessed.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your G.R.O.W. entries are private and only visible to you. Faith pins and connection activity are only visible to users you have explicitly connected with.
Google Sheets Analytics
For internal analytics and user support purposes, certain account and usage data is synced to a private Google Sheets spreadsheet managed by FaithVault administrators. This includes: your user ID, name, email, signup date, signup source, entry completion counts, milestone progress, subscription status, and last active date. This data is used solely for service improvement and is not shared with any external parties.
5. Third-Party Services
FaithVault uses the following third-party services to provide its features:
- OpenAI Whisper (voice-to-text): When you use the voice recording feature, your audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription. Audio data is processed in real time and is not retained by OpenAI beyond the processing request. OpenAI's data usage policies apply; see OpenAI API Data Usage Policies.
- OpenAI (AI features): Certain features such as AI-assisted reflections and image generation use OpenAI's API. Prompts and responses are processed in real time and are subject to OpenAI's API Data Usage Policies.
- Google Sheets API: Used for internal analytics as described in Section 4. Data is transmitted securely via Google's authenticated API.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim: For geocoding map locations when you create faith pins. Only the location coordinates or search query are sent; no personal information is transmitted.
- Expo Push Notifications: For delivering push notifications to your device. Your device push token is shared with Expo's notification service.
- Apple Sign-In: As an optional authentication method. When used, Apple provides us with your user identifier, email address, and name as you authorize. We verify your identity token against Apple's public keys.
- RevenueCat: For subscription and in-app purchase management. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app user ID and purchase transaction data. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: All your G.R.O.W. entries and information are visible in the app
- Delete your account: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen at any time. This also removes your data from our analytics systems.
- Control notifications: You can enable or disable all notification categories from Settings
- Control location: Location is only used when you explicitly create a faith pin. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings.
- Control voice data: Voice recording is only activated when you explicitly tap the record button. No audio is captured without your action.
7. Data Retention
Your account data and G.R.O.W. entries are retained for as long as your account is active. Voice recordings are not stored after transcription is complete. When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems, including entries, connections, faith pins, and analytics records.
8. Children's Privacy
FaithVault is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app and updating the "Last Updated" date above.
